Senior Footballers advance on superb second half performance 2017-04-27 12:14:00

The Ballincollig senior footballers got their championship campaign off to the perfect start with a fantastic performance against St Finbarrs in Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday night. The team raced into an early lead going 05 - 01 ahead after fifteen minutes. The Barrs to their credit got on top of the game for the rest of the first half, and ended up going in at half time one point ahead; 1-07 to 1-06. The lead could have been greater were in not for a well worked goal scored by Ian Coughlan as an immediate response to a Barrs' goal.

There was no doubting who were the better team in the second half, as Ballincollig opened up a commanding lead after 40 minutes with Cian Dorgan kicking effortlessly off left and right at full forward and Ciaran O Sullivan contributing some lovely scores from midfield. A fortuitous Pa Kelly goal provided a killer blow to the opposition and from then on there was really only going to be one outcome. A second Ian Coughlan goal rounded off a highly impressive performance and a major statement of intent from the team towards their ambitions for the rest of the year. Best players on the night were Colin Moore, Ciaran O Sullivan and Cian Dorgan.
